Can you get tinnitus from the COVID-19 vaccine?

Numerous mild side effects may occur after vaccination. These side effects usually disappear after a few days. Tinnitus can develop in 0.01% after vaccination (4000 people out of 40 million who have been vaccinated). In contrast, 40% of people who got COVID have tinnitus for a short or long time.

Some people also report an increase in pre-existing tinnitus after the first vaccination. The guidelines do not state that an increase in existing tinnitus would be a contraindication for a 2nd dose of the vaccine. Nor is a vaccine change necessary. The patient can therefore receive a second dose of the vaccine in complete safety.
