How can I prevent motion sickness?

Car sickness, also known as motion sickness, can be an annoying problem. Here are some tips to prevent it.

Sit in the front of the car if you are a passenger. In a bus it is usually less bad in the middle and at the front. On a ship, the middle bottom is the most stable. Focus on a fixed point in the distance. Avoid reading or looking at screens during the trip.

Provide fresh air by opening a window or turning on the air conditioning. Avoid heavy, fatty meals before and during the trip. Eat light snacks such as crackers. Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol and caffeine.

Consider using motion sickness medications such as motilium. Consult a doctor or pharmacist for advice. Ginger can help reduce nausea. Listen to music or an audiobook to distract you from the movement.

If you drive yourself, you are less likely to get carsick because you have control over the vehicle's movements and can see outside. Take regular breaks during long rides to get some exercise and fresh air.
