Can you get diabetes from COVID-19?

Research has shown that there is a relationship between COVID-19 and diabetes.

Diabetes not only causes an increased risk of complications from COVID-19, but corona itself also causes diabetes. We do not know exactly why this happens, but we do know that ACE-2 (= the receptor through which the virus enters our cells) is present in organs such as the pancreas, small intestine, fatty tissue, liver and kidneys. These organs play a role in diabetes. The virus probably disrupts the breakdown of sugar in this way. Other viral infections can also cause diabetes.
