Is there a difference between COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2?

SARS-CoV-2 is the name scientists have given to the virus itself. It stands for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome - COronaVirus - 2. The disease that this virus causes is called COVID-19 and that stands for COronaVIrus Disease 2019.
