What does the coronavirus actually do to your lungs?
Most people will develop a mild form of Covid-19 and will not damage the lungs. In the more serious forms, inflammation occurs in the lungs. These inflammations later form scar tissue that never goes away. This is also called pulmonary fibrosis.
These people have a reduction in oxygen intake which will lead to shortness of breath and fatigue. In the worst cases, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) can occur. The lung tissue is additionally damaged by fluid and proteins and a life-threatening situation can arise.
