What can you do if you have a house dust mite allergy?
The house dust mite is an animal barely 0.3 millimeters long. It not only lives in house dust but mainly in mattresses, sheets, blankets, pillows and carpets. It feeds on human dander in bedding.
We have little trouble with the dust mites themselves. 1 in 10 people has an allergy to dust mite droppings. They suffer from sneezing, watery eyes, tickly cough, fatigue, eczema and even asthma.
What can you do about house dust mite allergy? Make sure your bedroom is not damp and ensure smooth floor coverings, wall coverings and furniture. Choose synthetic or cotton curtains and use a synthetic mattress and an anti-allergic cover. Keep the bedroom cool and ventilate it daily. Wash the sheets every week at at least 60 degrees and dust the floor twice a week? Only use a vacuum cleaner with a filter.
If these measures do not help, a visit to the doctor is recommended. He may then prescribe an antihistamine.
