Youth pimples
Pimples are not immediately dangerous but mainly annoying. How do you get them, and what can you do about them?
Youth pimples are also called acne. They mainly occur on the face but also on the back. Due to excessive production of sebum, the sebaceous glands become clogged and can become inflamed, causing purulent pimples. Acne starts during puberty and is more severe in men because sebum production is stimulated by male hormones. There would also be a hereditary predisposition. For a long time it was thought that chocolate or fries would worsen acne, but there is hardly any evidence for this.
Local creams containing benzoyl peroxide are first used as treatment. Your pharmacist can help you with this. If this does not help, the doctor can prescribe ointments, lotions or tablets with antibiotics. Usually this has a very good effect. If the pimples persist or appear as cysts, the dermatologist can prescribe vitamin A preparations
