On-call GP
Everyone knows that you can go to the doctor during the day for a wide variety of medical problems. There is also a GP on call at night and at weekends. But for which problems can you go to the on-call GP?
The on-call GP is there to help with urgent medical problems. This applies, for example, to life-threatening situations such as heart attacks or strokes. The on-call service is also often used for problems that cannot wait until the next day or until the GP has consultation hours again, such as pneumonia, cuts, etc.
Patients often consult the on-call GP for simple problems such as colds, gastrointestinal complaints or problems that have existed for a long time. It is not the intention that people go to the on-call GP with such problems.
Normally the patient comes to the GP's office. Home visits are only recommended for patients who reside in a nursing home or are bedridden. You can reach the on-call GP outside working hours on 1733.
