What to do with excessive sweating?
Quite a few people suffer from excessive sweating in the summer. But why do we sweat and what can we do about it?
Sweating allows us to regulate our body temperature. We sweat during exertion, due to hot drinks and spicy food or due to stress. In warm weather, it is normal to sweat even from mild exertion. But if you're constantly soaking wet, there might be something wrong. Obesity, a disturbed thyroid gland or diabetes must then be ruled out. But healthy people can also sweat excessively, for example in the armpits, face, palms or on the soles of the feet. This is often hereditary but should not be underestimated.
Initially, you can wear light clothing, keep your living and working environment fresh and avoid foods or drinks that make you sweat. Sprays and rollers do not cure anything, but can alleviate the complaints. Stress treatment, Botox injections, electrotherapy or surgery are only necessary in exceptional cases.
