Chiropractic

Chiropractic comes from the Greek word 'cheir' which means hand and 'prattein' which means practice. Chiropractic is a treatment method that is not only used for joint problems but also for other health problems. Chiropractic was developed in the United States starting in 1892. The practitioners call themselves chiropractors.

Chiropractic practitioners claim that neck and back treatments are good for: appendicitis, arthritis, constipation, gallstones, heart disease, cirrhosis of the liver, eye problems, colds, spastic colon, strep throat, and even diabetes. But ADHD, allergies, asthma, bedwetting and even childhood illnesses could also be treated with chiropractic care.

There is limited evidence for the treatment of the musculoskeletal system. There is no credible scientific basis for the treatment of organs and behavioral problems by a chiropractor.

Since not all chiropractors are trained as physiotherapists, there is great concern about the safety of the treatment, which can, for example, cause strokes and ruptures in blood vessels.
