Is the Moerman diet useful against cancer?
It is claimed that the Moerman diet can prevent cancer. Some even claim that the Moerman diet can cure cancer.
Moerman was a pigeon fancier and conducted various experiments with his racing pigeons. He discovered that it is not possible to artificially induce cancer in healthy pigeons. According to him, the quality of food played a very important role.
According to Moerman, the high oxidation capacity of racing pigeons (necessary to fly long distances) protects the birds from developing cancer.
The nutrients that according to Moerman were essential for health are iodine, citric acid, yeast (as a source of the entire vitamin B complex, including ferments and enzymes), iron, sulfur, vitamin A, vitamin D and vitamin E and later vitamin C.
However, there is no scientific evidence that the Moerman diet can prevent cancer. There is also no evidence that the diet can cure cancer.
