Do wristbands help against motion sickness?

The scientific evidence that wristbands can help against motion sickness is very weak. The bands sold online and in specialty stores work no better than any decorative bracelet!

The wristbands are said to work through acupressure, a technique from traditional Chinese medicine. The wristbands would apply pressure to the P6 (Neiguan) acupressure point on the inside of the wrist. This point is associated with relieving nausea and vomiting.

Research into the effectiveness of acupressure bands such as Sea-Band has produced mixed results. Some studies suggest that these bands may be effective in reducing symptoms of motion sickness, while other studies indicate that the effect is mainly due to the placebo effect.
