Can you get COVID-19 from the corona vaccine?
You cannot get COVID-19 from the corona vaccine. Here are the top reasons why that isn't possible.
The COVID-19 vaccines currently approved for use (such as the mRNA vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, and the vector vaccines from AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson) do not contain live, active virus. They only contain genetic material or a deactivated version of the virus that helps the body mount an immune response without causing an infection.
The mRNA vaccines use a piece of the virus's genetic material (mRNA) to give instructions to the body's cells to make a protein (the spike protein) that the immune system recognizes as foreign. The immune system then learns to recognize and fight this protein, without a real virus infection taking place.
The vector vaccines use a harmless virus (an adenovirus) that has been genetically modified to contain a piece of the coronavirus (the spike protein). This virus cannot reproduce in human cells and does not cause disease. It only serves as a carrier to stimulate the immune system.
The vaccines do not contain viral components that can multiply in your body or cause a full-blown viral infection. They are designed to trigger an immune response without causing the disease itself.
It is important to emphasize that the COVID-19 vaccines have been rigorously tested in clinical trials and approved by health authorities as safe and effective.
