Can Resveratrol, a drug from red wine, slow down COVID-19?

Dutch researchers indeed claim that resveratrol would slow down the growth of the coronavirus. In cell tests, resveratrol has shown that it can inhibit virus production by 99 percent. But it is not known what effect resveratrol will have in humans. Perhaps the dose that can be administered to people - without side effects - is not high enough to kill the virus. Or perhaps serious side effects will occur if it were given at a high enough dose.

The amounts of resveratrol in red wine, peanut butter, dark chocolate and nutritional supplements are in any case insufficient to kill the virus. In any case, the resveratrol that you can buy in the health food store has not shown any effect against the virus.
