Does the corona vaccine have long-term side effects?
The vaccine has only recently been introduced. So we have no information about the long-term side effects.
The short-term side effects are known and they do not differ from the other vaccines. In particular, swelling, redness and pain at the injection site and mild fever may occur in 10%. Muscle pain and fatigue may also occur within two to three days after vaccination, but these will disappear spontaneously. Allergic reactions are possible but very rare. You normally see the side effects within 6 to 8 weeks.
It is extremely rare for serious side effects to occur 2 months after administration. For the vaccines that are now on the market, the side effects are known within the first two months and are completely reassuring. So we are taking a calculated risk with the vaccine. We currently have enough data to say that the vaccines coming onto the market are as safe as the other vaccines on the market. If the regulatory authorities give their approval, we can assume that the vaccine is safe.
