Can you prevent COVID-19 with elderberry syrup?

There is currently no convincing scientific evidence that elderberry syrup can prevent or treat COVID-19.

Although elderberry syrup is known for its potential antiviral properties and is often used to treat colds and flu, its effectiveness against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, has not been established. There is also no scientific evidence for the effect against colds and flu.

While elderberry syrup may have benefits in treating colds and flu, there is no scientific evidence that it can prevent or treat COVID-19. For the prevention of COVID-19, following the guidelines of public health authorities, such as vaccination and hygiene measures, remains essential.
