Does ginger work against nausea?

Ginger is known to be effective against nausea. Ginger is said to reduce various types of nausea such as nausea caused by pregnancy, motion sickness, chemotherapy and postoperative nausea.

Gingerols and shogaols are active ingredients of ginger and suppress nausea. They probably work by modulating the effect of serotonin receptors in the digestive system and central nervous system, which helps to suppress the gag reflex.

Ginger's anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties may help reduce nausea by reducing inflammation and oxidative stress in the gastrointestinal tract. Ginger is said to help promote normal gastric emptying and improve gastric motility, which can reduce nausea.

There is some scientific evidence that ginger works against various types of nausea. The active components in ginger, such as gingerols and shogaols, play an important role in suppressing nausea and vomiting. Using ginger, either fresh, powdered, or as a supplement, can be safe and effective for relieving nausea in a variety of situations.
