Can you get COVID-19 through sexual intercourse?
Research in men with a moderate form of COVID-19 shows that the virus is not excreted in the semen. On the other hand, the virus has been found in the stool. The chance of a virus in the vaginal fluid also appears to be very small. But the virus will again be abundant in saliva. During sexual relations it is very difficult to keep a distance of 1.5 meters.
Contamination with COVID-19 therefore seems most likely via droplets of saliva. Sleeping in the same room is allowed as long as both partners show no signs of the disease and as long as one of the partners does not work in the healthcare sector.
