Are fat people more susceptible to COVID-19?
It is true that 2/3 of the people admitted to hospitals with COVID-19 are overweight and half of them are even obese. So we don't know for sure that overweight people are more susceptible, but we do notice that fat people are admitted to hospital more quickly than non-fat people. On the other hand, we do not see more complications in overweight people.
A possible reason why overweight people would be more susceptible to COVID-19 could be the fact that COVID-19 attaches to body cells via ACE-2 receptors. These are common in the lungs and intestines. That is why coughing and diarrhea are common with COVID-19 infections. These ACE-2 strip towers also occur in the fatty tissue. This would explain why overweight people would be more susceptible to COVID-19.
