When is vaccination against dengue indicated?

The Qdenga vaccine has been available on the Belgian market since March 2023. Who is this vaccine intended for?

This vaccine reduces the risk of a serious dengue infection. The vaccine may be administered to children from 6 years of age. Dengvaxia® is not available in Belgium and is not recommended to travelers. The Superior Health Council recommends vaccination for travelers who have already had dengue or travelers who stay in or frequently travel through a high-risk area for a long time (> 4 weeks).

The vaccine is a live attenuated vaccine and should therefore not be used in certain immune disorders, during pregnancy or during breastfeeding.
