Does cranberry syrup prevent infections?

It is claimed that cranberry syrup prevents bacteria and viruses from attaching to mucous membranes. The flushed micro-organisms would not have the chance to cause much damage.

Unfortunately, cranberry syrup has an extremely limited effect on an early urinary tract infection. But there is no evidence of its effectiveness against other infections. It will certainly not be active against the coronavirus or other viruses.
