When should we be concerned about an infection with COVID-19?
While many people with COVID-19 experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover completely without medical intervention, some cases may be more severe and require medical attention. Here are some situations where you should be concerned and seek medical attention for a COVID-19 infection.
In severe forms of COVID-19, breathing problems, pain or pressure in the chest, confusion, severe fatigue, high fever, severe muscle pain and gastrointestinal complaints may occur.
People with certain underlying health conditions or conditions are at higher risk for severe COVID-19 infections and should take extra caution. This includes individuals with chronic lung diseases such as COPD or asthma, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, kidney disease, immunosuppression, obesity and the elderly over 65 years of age.
If you experience any of the serious symptoms mentioned above, you should seek medical attention immediately. This may mean contacting your doctor, visiting an emergency room, or calling an ambulance. If you are in one of the high-risk groups and start showing COVID-19 symptoms, you should contact a healthcare provider early, even if symptoms seem mild.
