Does diluted moonlight homeopathy really exist?
There are homeopathic products that claim to be based on diluted moonlight, although this is a highly controversial concept within both mainstream medicine and homeopathy itself.
Homeopathy is an alternative medicine based on the principle of "like cures like" and the use of extremely diluted substances. The assumption is that a substance that causes symptoms in a healthy person can cure those symptoms in a sick person when given in a highly diluted form.
The idea of homeopathic remedies based on diluted moonlight stems from the belief that moonlight has certain energetic properties that can be transferred and amplified by the homeopathic process of dilution and agitation (dynamization). Such a remedy would be made by exposing water or alcohol to moonlight for a period of time, after which this "moonlight solution" is further diluted according to homeopathic methods.
There is no scientific evidence that diluted moonlight or other homeopathic remedies have any measurable medical effects beyond a placebo effect. Most scientific studies indicate that the extremely diluted solutions in homeopathy often do not contain molecules of the original substance.
The medical and scientific community criticizes such practices for lacking a mechanistic basis and empirical evidence.
