Why are Asian tiger mosquitoes a problem?
The Asian tiger mosquito is being spotted more and more often in our country. How does it get to our country and why is it so dangerous?
The Asian tiger mosquito enters our country via the ports or airports. They can mainly be found in loads of old tires and exotic plants from America or Asia.
Most Asian tiger mosquitoes that are now entering our country cannot survive during our cold winters. But in the future, a variant could develop in our countries due to climate changes and the large number of Asian tiger mosquitoes that enter this way.
The Asian tiger mosquito mainly spreads dengue fever and yellow fever. Dengue fever is also known as dengue. The disease starts with fever, headache, muscle aches, joint pain and rash. Sometimes life-threatening bleeding can occur. Yellow fever is characterized by diarrhea, bleeding, abdominal pain, severe jaundice, neurological abnormalities and shock. One in five people with yellow fever dies from the disease.
