Depression
Many people use the term depression for mood disorders that can range from a brief dip to severe depression. But what is depression really and what can you do about it?
To be truly depressed you must be in a depressed mood for most of the day and on top of that you must also have a loss of interest in pleasant moments. This can also occur along with insomnia, changing appetite and weight gain or loss. In addition, fatigue, restlessness, concentration problems, fears, feelings of guilt or helplessness may also occur.
You do not need treatment for a normal dip, but treatment is indicated for real depression. Usually medications are not necessary, but cognitive behavioral therapy can help you. Here you learn that some thoughts are not realistic. You learn to behave more actively and think more positively. Don't hesitate to discuss such problems with your doctor.
