What can you do in case of a wasp sting?

What can you do if you have a wasp sting and especially how can you prevent stings?

Wasps are attracted to sweets and bright colors. They sting mainly when they are attacked themselves. Unlike bees, they can sting repeatedly. The sting causes a sharp, burning pain and within a few minutes, redness and swelling of the skin occurs. After a few hours, the swelling decreases again and the redness disappears. The allergic reaction may last longer.

In the case of a wasp sting, it is best to cool the sting with a wet cloth or ice cubes. A visit to the doctor is necessary if you have stings in the mouth or pharynx or if you have extensive skin reactions.

The best way to prevent a wasp sting is not to attack the animals yourself, by not using sweets, alcoholic drinks or perfume. Clean the mouths of children who have eaten sweets and do not drink from bottles or cans without a straw.
