What are the principles of homotoxicology?
Homotoxicology is a form of alternative medicine that focuses on understanding and treating disease from the perspective of "toxins" (poisonous substances) in the body. It was developed in the 1950s by German physician Hans-Heinrich Reckeweg.
According to homotoxicology, diseases are caused by the accumulation of toxins in the body, and the goal of treatment is to eliminate these toxins and restore the body's natural balance.
In homotoxicology, disease is seen as a response of the body to defend itself against toxins. The body tries to eliminate or neutralize these harmful substances in order to maintain health. Reckeweg described six phases of disease, ranging from "humoral phases" (early, reversible stages) to "cellular phases" (later, often irreversible stages).
In homotoxicology, special remedies are used that are intended to support the body in eliminating toxins and restoring balance. These remedies are often homeopathic in nature and can contain plant, mineral or animal substances.
The treatments focus on supporting the body's natural defense and detoxification mechanisms, rather than suppressing symptoms as is often done in conventional medicine.
Homotoxicology is an alternative approach to medicine that is not scientifically based.
