What diseases can you treat with methylene blue?
Methylene blue is a substance that some doctors claim can be used for various medical applications. However, there is no scientific evidence for its effectiveness. Here are some of the main diseases that methylene blue can be used for.
Methylene blue is said to not only extend life but also have a beneficial effect on memory and mood. Methylene blue is said to work at the cellular level and have a positive effect on the cells' power stations, the mitochondria. As a result, it is said to work against depression, COVID, AIDS, Alzheimer's, autism, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, pain and metabolic disorders such as diabetes.
Previously, methylene blue was used against methemoglobinemia, urinary tract infections, malaria and bipolar disorders. In the meantime, it has been shown that methylene blue is not a reliable treatment for these diseases. Methylene blue is not without danger. People with a deficiency of the enzyme glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) can experience serious problems. It can also affect the functioning of many other medications.
Despite the many claims that methylene blue can be useful against many diseases, there is insufficient scientific evidence to use this agent in the context of anti-aging or other conditions. Only in exceptional cases may it be useful for hospital use.
