Which foods slow down aging?

Certain foods are said to help slow the aging process by being rich in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory compounds, vitamins, minerals and other bioactive compounds that are said to support cellular health.

The main foods associated with slowing aging are berries (such as blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries) because they are high in antioxidants and are said to have anti-inflammatory effects. Dark leafy greens (such as spinach and kale) are also rich in vitamins and minerals and are said to be good for your bones, eyes, and brain.

Fatty fish (such as salmon, mackerel, and sardines) are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, which help reduce inflammation and protect your brain and heart from age-related diseases. Nuts and seeds (such as almonds, walnuts, and flaxseeds) are rich in healthy fats, vitamin E, and polyphenols.

Extra virgin olive oil contains oleocanthal, a compound that is said to have anti-inflammatory effects. Dark chocolate contains flavonoids, powerful antioxidants that are said to help improve blood flow and lower blood pressure.

Green tea contains antioxidants such as catechins and polyphenols. Tomatoes are rich in lycopene and avocados are rich in monounsaturated fats. Garlic is said to have powerful anti-inflammatory properties.

While no single food can prevent aging, a diet rich in antioxidants, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals can contribute to better overall health.
