Are grape seeds good for your health?
Grape seeds are said to offer health benefits because they contain high levels of antioxidants. These antioxidants, such as oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs), have been linked to various health benefits.
Grape seed extract is said to lower blood pressure and improve circulation. The antioxidants help reduce oxidative stress, which is said to contribute to a healthy heart and a reduced risk of heart disease. The antioxidants in grape seeds are said to have anti-inflammatory effects, which is said to help reduce chronic inflammation associated with diseases such as arthritis and certain types of cancer.
The antioxidants are also said to help protect the skin from UV damage and aging. The antioxidants in grape seeds are also said to help improve memory and cognitive function, possibly by reducing oxidative damage to brain cells.
While there are promising claims, it is important to note that most studies have been conducted in laboratory conditions. The effect on blood pressure or inflammation could not be demonstrated compared to placebo. Therefore, its use for medical purposes is not recommended.
