Is sophrology scientifically proven?
Sophrology has some scientific research behind it, but the evidence for its effectiveness is limited and not as strong as other established methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy.
Sophrology is a method that combines techniques of relaxation, meditation, and breathing exercises to promote both physical and mental well-being. Sophrology focuses on improving awareness and inner peace and is often used for stress management, improving sleep, and increasing self-confidence.
Some research suggests that sophrology can help reduce stress and promote relaxation, especially in specific situations such as exam stress or anxiety during pregnancy and childbirth. These studies indicate improvements in psychological well-being and sleep quality, but the studies are often based on self-reports and small sample sizes.
There are limited studies that have examined sophrology in patients with chronic pain, sleep disorders, and anxiety. While some results are promising, there is not enough strong evidence to recommend sophrology widely within the medical field.
While there is some evidence that sophrology can help with stress management and relaxation, there is no scientific evidence that conclusively demonstrates its effectiveness.
