What can you do about man boobs?
Man boobs, also known as gynecomastia, is a condition in which men develop excess breast tissue. This can be caused by hormonal imbalance, excess weight, certain medications, or health conditions.
It is important to first determine the cause of your gynecomastia so that you can choose the right treatment. Visit your doctor to determine whether it is true gynecomastia (excess breast tissue) or pseudo-gynecomastia (fat accumulation).
If your man boobs are due to fat accumulation (pseudo-gynecomastia), focus on exercises that work your chest muscles, such as bench presses, push-ups, and chest flies. This will help build muscle mass and reduce fat. Regular cardio can help burn fat and promote weight loss. A balanced diet with plenty of protein, vegetables, and healthy fats can help you lose fat.
For true gynecomastia caused by hormonal imbalance, a doctor may consider hormone therapy. This is sometimes prescribed to lower estrogen (female hormone) levels or increase testosterone levels. If certain medications are the cause, your doctor may consider adjusting your dosage or prescribing an alternative medication.
Excessive alcohol use and drugs such as anabolic steroids can contribute to gynecomastia. In severe cases where other methods do not help, surgery such as liposuction or mammary gland removal may be an option.
