Does Deep TMS work against depression?

Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (Deep TMS) is used effectively against depression. Deep TMS is a non-invasive treatment that uses magnetic fields to stimulate specific parts of the brain involved in mood and emotion.

It is a more advanced form of traditional Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), where the magnetic pulses penetrate deeper into the brain.

Several clinical studies have shown that Deep TMS is effective in treating depression, especially in patients who do not respond well to traditional antidepressants. It can lead to a significant reduction in depressive symptoms and in some cases even complete remission.

In the United States, Deep TMS has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of depression, indicating the proven safety and effectiveness of the therapy. The treatment is generally well tolerated, with few side effects such as mild headaches or discomfort at the site of stimulation.

Unlike medications, Deep TMS has no systemic side effects, such as weight gain or sexual dysfunction. A typical course of treatment consists of 20 to 30 minute sessions, usually daily for four to six weeks.
