What is the best way to avoid catching a cold?

To avoid catching a cold, you can take some steps to boost your immune system and reduce your exposure to cold viruses.

Wash your hands regularly with soap and water or hand sanitizer, especially after contact with public objects or people who have colds.

Keep your distance from people who have cold symptoms, such as sneezing and coughing. Avoid crowded places during seasons when colds are more common.

Chronic stress can weaken your immune system. Getting a good night’s sleep is essential to keeping your immune system strong. Eat foods rich in vitamins and minerals, such as fruits and vegetables, to support your immune system.

Probiotics and vitamin C, vitamin D, and zinc supplements have not been shown to boost resistance.

Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption weaken your immune system and make you more susceptible to infections such as colds. Make sure that your frequented spaces, such as your home and workplace, are well ventilated to reduce the spread of viruses.

Exercise boosts your circulation and immune system. Try to be active every day. Drink plenty of water to keep your body well hydrated.

Make sure the air in indoor spaces is not too dry as the dehydration of your mucous membranes will significantly undermine your immune system.
