What is maderotherapy?

Maderotherapy, or wood therapy, is a holistic massage technique originating in Colombia that uses specially designed wooden instruments to help contour the body, reduce cellulite and improve lymphatic drainage.

The term madero means wood in Spanish and the therapy uses various wooden instruments, such as rollers, cups and other shapes, to massage the body.

The wooden instruments are said to break down fat deposits and promote better blood circulation, which is said to reduce cellulite. It is said to help remove toxins and excess fluids from the body through the lymphatic system. The technique is said to firm specific areas of the body, which promotes a more toned appearance.

It is said to relieve tension in muscles and promote relaxation. The massage is said to stimulate collagen production, improve skin elasticity and prevent sagging.

Maderotherapy sessions typically last 30 to 60 minutes and multiple treatments are recommended for best results. It is considered a non-invasive alternative to other cosmetic body shaping procedures.

However, there is no scientific evidence to support these treatments.
