What can you do about halitosis?

Halitosis, also known as bad breath, is a condition in which an unpleasant odor comes from the mouth. This can be temporary, for example after eating certain foods, or it can be chronic. Halitosis can be treated in different ways depending on the cause.

Treatment for halitosis begins with good oral hygiene. Regular brushing (at least twice a day), flossing, and tongue cleaning are essential to remove food particles and bacteria. Professional dental cleanings and dental checks for gum disease can help.

If halitosis is caused by medical conditions such as sinus infections, stomach problems, or dry mouth, it is important to treat these. Chewing gum or sugar-free candies can help stimulate saliva production and cleanse the mouth.

Halitosis can be effectively treated by addressing the underlying cause and by maintaining good oral hygiene. If bad breath persists, it is wise to consult a dentist or physician to rule out any medical causes.
