What's in erection honey and is it safe?
Erection honey, also known as Royal Honey or Love Honey, is a product that claims to improve sexual performance. It usually contains a mix of natural ingredients such as honey and herbal extracts, but often also synthetic substances such as sildenafil.
The composition and safety of erection honey depend greatly on the specific product. In addition to honey, herbs such as tongkat ali, ginseng and maca root can be found. Honey itself has no effect on erection but is added for its natural sweetness and image of health.
Tongkat Ali is an herb that is often used to increase testosterone levels. Ginseng is known for its energy-enhancing and libido-stimulating properties. Maca root is a supplement that is associated with increased fertility and libido.
Some erection honey contains sildenafil or other PDE-5 inhibitors, the active ingredients in medications such as Viagra. Some brands contain illegal amounts of sildenafil or similar substances without stating this on the label. This can lead to serious side effects, especially in people with cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, or who are taking other medications.
Although herbs are often considered natural, they can also have side effects or interact with medications. Ginseng can cause insomnia and Tongkat Ali can lead to hormonal changes.
Products from unknown or unregulated brands may be contaminated with heavy metals, pesticides, or other harmful substances.
