What is the Hormone Balance Diet?
The Hormone Balance Diet is based on the idea that hormonal imbalance can be a major cause of health problems such as obesity, fatigue, mood swings and sleep problems.
The concept was popularized by nutritionists and authors such as Ralph Moorman, who developed the diet. The diet is primarily focused on supporting the natural functioning of hormones, such as insulin, cortisol, thyroid hormones, estrogen, and testosterone.
The basic principles of the hormone balance diet include avoiding processed foods, added sugars, trans fats, and chemical additives. Choose fresh vegetables, fruits, good quality proteins (such as fish, poultry, and eggs), healthy fats (such as avocado, nuts, and olive oil), and whole grains.
Avoid fast sugars and refined carbohydrates that cause spikes in blood sugar levels, as this can disrupt your insulin balance. Choose complex carbohydrates and ensure a good balance of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Limit exposure to xenoestrogens (chemicals that can mimic the effects of estrogen).
Although the diet contains many healthy principles, such as avoiding processed foods and supporting a healthy lifestyle, not everything is scientifically proven. Hormonal imbalance is complex and is influenced by more than just food. Not everyone responds to dietary changes in the same way, and some claims about direct influence on hormones are difficult to substantiate.
