Are andullation mattresses good for your health?
There is no convincing scientific evidence that an andullation mattress actually solves permanent health problems. However, they can offer temporary comfort or relaxation. Evidence for lasting effects on medical conditions such as chronic pain or illness is very limited.
A good mattress (in terms of firmness, support, and sleep quality) can contribute to a better night's sleep, fewer back problems, and therefore indirectly to your health. Products like andullation mattresses, which emit vibrations, possibly combined with infrared, may provide a feeling of relaxation or comfort, but have no measurable effect on health.
The claim that an andullation mattress cures or provides significant long-term improvements in conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic lower back pain, or neurological disorders is unsubstantiated. Technologies such as cell resonance, deep infrared penetration, or biological microvibrations are mentioned by manufacturers, but have not been proven in high-quality clinical studies.
These mattresses are even contraindicated for certain conditions, such as serious cardiovascular disease, implants, or recent surgery. In these cases, vibration or infrared may not be suitable.
Manufacturers also claim that people sleep better on such a mattress. This is difficult to demonstrate in a double-blind study, but the vibrations probably mainly cause a placebo effect.
