Does Ayurveda contain toxins?

Ayurveda, a traditional medicine from India, uses a wide range of herbs, minerals and other natural substances to treat various health problems. Although many Ayurvedic treatments and products are safe, there are some risks related to toxic substances.

Some Ayurvedic products contain heavy metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium and arsenic, which can be toxic, especially if present in high concentrations or with long-term use. Products may be contaminated with pesticides, harmful bacteria or other contaminants if they are not produced according to strict quality control procedures.

Because Ayurvedic remedies are often handmade, there can be variations in dosage and composition, which can lead to unintended side effects or toxicity.

Finally, there is no scientific evidence that Ayurveda is beneficial to our health. Given the possible risks and the lack of evidence about their effectiveness, it is not appropriate to rely on Ayurvedic remedies, especially to avoid exposure to toxic substances.
